Everything is engulfed by Allah’s
Mercy, from the tiniest atom to the largest celestial.
Even if we worship Allah sincerely for ever, in the end, we only enter paradise
through the mercy of Allah. In the prior nations there was a very pious and
devoted worshipper. This man was somewhat feeling impressed with himself,
thinking that his years of devotion really do earn him the right to a grand
place in paradise.
One night after he fell asleep, he saw in his dreams the Day of Judgement
and people waiting in line to have their deeds and actions weighed to be judged.
When his turn came, he heard a voice say:
“Enter paradise by the virtue of my mercy.”
This man replied, “No I will enter it by virtue of my deeds!”
The voice again said, “Enter by virtue of my mercy”
Again and again the man replied, “No through the virtue of my deeds.”
The voice then said, “Let us weigh his seventy years of worship and obedience.
Put all those deeds in one end of the scale and in the other end one of his
eyes, along with its benefits – sight etc -.
As soon as the eye and the blessing of sight were put on the scale, it outweighed
his seventy years of worship.
When this man in his dream saw his lifetime of devotion strewn in the air
like dust, he jumped up. And from that moment on he became all the more wiser.
